Research is a major part of the program in Penn State’s Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Clinic. We are active in clinical research studies, basic laboratory research and translational research.
Learn More About Allergy, Asthma and Immunology
Research topics of interest include:
- Asthma
- Chronic obstructive lung disease
- Immunodeficiency
- Drug allergies
- Alpha1-anti-trypsin deficiency
- Hereditary angioedema
- Eosinophilic esophagitis
- Biomarkers to diagnose and characterize allergic diseases
- Mechanisms of regulation of inflammation
- Rhinitis and the effect on sleep
We follow one of the largest group of hereditary angioedema patients in the United States, and this allows multiple research opportunities for students, residents and fellows.
As a group, we have successfully worked with more than 50 medical students in their research projects, and each year have multiple students presenting their research at our national conferences. We have also mentored many residents in their research projects.
